Call for Reviewers: Broadband Technology Opportunities Program



With the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA), President Obama  and Congress appropriated an unprecedented $7.2 billion in funds to expand broadband access to all Americans.  The U.S. Department of Commerce’s National Telecommunications and Information Administration (NTIA) is administering the Broadband Technology Opportunities Program (BTOP) a $4.5 billion grant program to promote broadband deployment, public computer centers and broadband adoption.

The NTIA is currently seeking volunteer reviewers for BTOP grant applications, especially for the public computer center and broadband adoption grants.  The NTIA is particularly seeking reviewers with expertise in at least ONE of the following areas:

Community Technology and Digital Inclusion Programs

Grantmaking and/or Nonprofit Management

Education, Health Care, Disability Access, Economic and Workforce Development, Libraries, Human and Social Services and/or Affordable
Housing

Low income and other vulnerable communities such as Children /Youth, Senior Citizens, Disabled, Rural, Immigrants, Limited-English
Speaking, etc.

PCs, LANs, Websites and Online Training

Marketing and Outreach

Would you participate as a peer reviewer?  Reviewers will participate remotely and won't be required to attend in-person meetings.  Reviewers are expected to participate in a 90-minute training session/webinar, review 5-10 applications and participate in a 2-hour conference call with their review panel.  The expected time commitment is approximately 20-25 hours though that may vary.
