Right-Wing Attacks on Pacifica Broadcasts of Al-Jazeera English

Pacifica Radio found itself the target of right-wing attacks after it began airing a daily newscast from Al-Jazeera Engish in major media markets across the country.

The five-station network with over 150 affiliate stations throughout the country, began the broadcasts on December 7th in New York, Houston and the Bay Area, with Los Angeles and Washington DC to follow.

Right-wing blogs quickly launched attacks calling the broadcast "the unthinkable possible"  and the Arab world's most respected broadcast outlet "Bin Laden's favored network".

Pacifica, often lost in internal struggles over what long-time supporters describe as "creeping NPRization" can take comfort in its Floyd Report characterization as a network that "regularly features terrorists".

Al-Jazeera English can be heard at 6am Mondays through Fridays at 941.FM in the Bay Area.
