Oakland Day of Solidarity with African People
Saturday, October 6th 2012  2:30pm
Oakland, CA

http://www.uhurusolidarity.org

On October 6th, the Day in Solidarity with African People is happening In Oakland. The Uhuru Solidarity Movement calls on white people to support the struggle for reparations and self determination led by the black community. Come hear Omali Yeshitela, dynamic organizer and theoretician, founder of the African Socialist International and leader of the Black is Back Coalition. Also speaking is Penny Hess, Chairwoman of the African People’s Solidarity Committee, a veteran organizer for justice and reparations to the African community. The reality is that a child born in the black community of West Oakland will live 15 years less than a white child born in the Oakland Hills and that every 36 hours an African is killed by the police in the U.S. To make the necessary change, African people must have power over their lives and their communities, and we can all have a part in supporting that struggle.
