Bill McKibben, “the planet’s best green journalist” (Time Magazine) and “probably the country’s most important environmentalist” (Boston Globe) is the author of a dozen books about the environment and the founder of the dynamic grassroots climate campaign 350.org, which has coordinated more than 15,000 rallies in nearly 200 countries since 2009. He holds honorary degrees from a dozen colleges, including the Universities of Massachusetts and Maine, the State University of New York, and Whittier and Colgate Colleges. In 2011 he was elected a fellow of the American Academy of Arts and Sciences. He has written for The New York Times, The Atlantic Monthly, Harper’s, Mother Jones, The New York Review of Books, Granta, Rolling Stone, and Outside. He has been awarded a Guggenheim Fellowship and the Lannan Prize.
