The Farm Bill is a national piece of legislation that has everything to do with how you eat. Our Representatives allowed the farm bill to expire on September 30th, along with funding for many critical programs, including the Farmers’ Market Promotion Program, that supports alternatives to the corporate food system. Additionally, the House has called for $16 bill in cuts to food stamps (SNAP), and have "updated" the eligibility requirements to make it more difficult for deserving individuals to receive food stamps. We call for no cuts to SNAP (see video on SNAP here). This workshop makes the direct link between national policy and what it means for our food. Come discuss what to expect if our Congress continues to create policy that does not consider our communities.
