John Morrison has been in the film business for 40 years. He has also been a professional potter, a city councilor, taught film at the University of Massachusetts, and is still the Director of Film Programming at Real Arts Ways, a cinema he helped found at the prestigious Media Art Center in Hartford CT. In 1999 he moved to the San Francisco Bay Area and became the CFI Education Director for the California Film Institute, presenters of the Mill Valley Film Festival and owners of the Christopher B. Smith Rafael Film Center. CFI Education brings film education to over 6,500 students every year. Recently he became the chief consultant for Kidflix Global a new company importing international children’s films to the US. He will be sharing with us samples from his CMCM show Aspect Ratio and also examples of the community creation work he has fostered through youth education.
