Are you an activist, cultural creative, or group facilitator collecting tools for your toolkit? Have you sought new ways to connect with your constituencies and your colleagues? Have you or
other members of your team experienced burnout, struggled with communication, or had
difficulty resolving conflict? Are you open to investigating new strategies and learning from your peers?
Perhaps we can help.
DiversityWorks is a fifteen-year strong social justice collective based in Oakland, CA. We offer
diversity training to businesses, nonprofits, schools, and youth groups. Our programs are
tailored to each organization’s needs, and areas of expertise include team-building, leadership
development, popular education, and group facilitation. Through oppression awareness
education and training in self-care and sustainability, we seek to refresh, deepen, and support the social change work of others.
In January 2013, we will launch the DiversityWorks Fellowship, a fully-funded, invitationonly workshop series. These retreats will connect a select group of organizations and their delegates to share ideas and learn collaboratively. Participants will acquire practical tools to stay creative and resilient at challenging moments, in addition to strengthening fundamental skills in workshop design and facilitation.
Through this process, DiversityWorks seeks to nurture new community partnerships. Bringing
together groups with diverse expertise and constituencies will create the most productive
opportunities for mentorship and sharing of best practices. The initial retreat and follow-up
trainings for the DiversityWorks Fellowship take place in January and February of 2013 in
Oakland, CA.
