Ethnic communities overwhelmingly support the state policy (AB 32) to reduce greenhouse gas emissions that drive global warming, according to a poll last year by the Public Policy Institute of California. At a time when interest in climate change impacts and energy security is high among readers, ethnic and community media journalists lack resources and specialized reporting skills to cover these complex topics. How will climate change affect our region and why is it relevant to energy policy in the state? How will California's climate change law affect industry, businesses and households? NAM will host a half-day training for ethnic and community media, featuring leading experts on climate change and energy and hands-on sessions to help journalists craft stories relevant to ethnic communities.
